The Dr. Norman C. Gysbers Nationally Recognized Missouri Program (The NRM)

The Dr. Norman C. Gysbers Nationally Recognized Missouri Program (NRM), pronounced “The Norm”, is the national recognition award that Missouri school counseling programs may earn.  Achieving this award not only garners state recognition but also national recognition as a RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) Award through the American School Counselor Association. The award is for individual schools whose school counseling programs have reached a level of implementation that emphasizes the positive impact of the school counseling program on student success and the school community.

A school counseling program that earns this award will serve as a model for programs that:

  • Emphasize the impact of comprehensive school counseling programs on systemic change within their schools.

  • Use data to create positive change that benefits students and schools.

  • Consistently work towards continuous program improvement.

  • Embrace the collaboration of all stakeholders within the school community to build a program based upon student needs and outcomes.

  • Automatically qualify successful school counseling programs for RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Programs) designation, giving them national award status!

Applications must be submitted through the MSCA Professional Recognition website by October 1. Honored schools will be celebrated at MSCA’s Annual Professional Recognition Awards Ceremony, MSCA Fall Conference, and also at the RAMP dinner at the ASCA conference.

To apply, please go to the MSCA awards website. You may view the rubric and application on the previously mentioned page.
